Michael’s Story

July of 2009 brought tragedy to the FCR family when a motorist decided to run a red light and ”T-boned” FCR member Michael who was in the intersection on his bike.  The impact ultimately resulted in the amputation of Michael’s right leg just below the knee.  FCR supported Michael with visits and prayer in the hospital and with several visits to Michael and Barbara’s home to be the hands and feet of Christ by helping maintain his home while he was recovering. The pictures below tell the story of this tragedy and the triumph of Michael’s overcoming this tragedy.  (See the note below the slideshow.)

NOTE:  The end of this slideshow shows Michael’s first steps on his new prosthetic leg…and Michael back in the saddle on his new bike.  Since his recovery Michael has turned this tragedy into triumph by seeking out and visiting other bikers who have undergone similar injuries, bringing them a message of Christian faith and encouragement.
